Random Thoughts...

OK ... woke up an hour earlier than usual (which is quite UNusual for me) and had all of these random thoughts swirling around in my noggin ... so of course, I'm going to blog about them.

1.  Why is it that I always mess up my back right when I finally have time to give the house a thorough cleaning or have some big plans or both? Work kicked my hiney last week, and I was looking forward to catching up with housework from the weekend before and also celebrating V-day with the fam. But I did a dumb thing ... I made up my bed. Now that doesn't sound like some vicious back-pain-causing activity, but my back said otherwise. So no cleaning for me...

2.  Does anyone else have back pain from your epidural site? My first epidural didn't go so well ... it took correctly (THANK THE GOOD LORD!) but the doc hit a vein or something on the first try, causing my pressure to drop and blood to squirt out of my back and me to almost faint into the poor nurse's waiting arms. The second try was better, but I kept having a "twang" (only way to describe it ... kinda how you'd imagine a guitar string feels) in my right hip. Now, if someone touches the epidural site, it's like being stabbed with an ice pick ... and if I bend the wrong way, LOTS of sharp pain will follow. *sigh* Well, at least I didn't feel any labor/delivery pain ... so I think it's a wash really.

3. I love, love, LOVE my boys, but sometimes I want to string them up by their toes! I've gotten reports from both of their teachers in the last week (and this isn't the first time) saying that they either don't follow instructions the first time they are given (D-bug) or just plain don't give a flying fig what the teacher says and completely ignores her (Beebee). We've tried spanking, taking away privileges, bribery and anything else we can think of ... nothing seems to work. Beebee's teacher also happens to be a John Rosemond certified parenting coach, as well as the owner/co-director of his private school/daycare (and a close friend) ... and she's starting to run out of ideas as well! (Scary thought! I told her to call us "Case Study #1.") I keep telling myself over and over that my kids have their own minds and are responsible for their own actions ... sometimes that's what gets me through the day.

4.  Great ... now I have guilt talking bad about my babies to the world at large. They are really good kids ... but, like all of us, they are sinful human beings who want "their way or the highway."

5.  Anyone else think being a mom is hard work?

Alrighty ... it's time to go wake up my littles for school and get this day started. I hope y'all have a FABULOUS day!

PS -- feel free to add any random thoughts that might be running through your brainpan today in the comments below ... I'd love to know I'm not the only one! :)
