Stuffed Animal Storage

A few weeks ago, I spent five hours cleaning out and rearranging our boys' room (they share a room, so you can imagine the mess ... I'll spare you the details). And yes, I know I should've made them help me ... but honestly ... I got so much more done with zero complaints, so it was worth doing it myself.

After tossing bags of junk and giving away clothes and toys they no longer use, I was left with a serene little room ... except for one area:

The stuffed animal pile.

Honestly ... I didn't realize little boys would be so partial to stuffed animals. They have at least a gazillion, and they are strewn about the room, under beds, in the closet, etc.

So once I had all of the animals corralled (get it?!), I needed a way to rein them in.

Google to the rescue!

I found this idea from Come Together Kids. AWESOME! Store stuffed animals in a bean bag!

Laura from Come Together Kids got her bean bags from Bed, Bath and Beyond. So I herded the crew over there, only to find out they were all sold out. (sad face)

So Hubby grabbed his phone and googled area stores to see if they had any in stock. Lo and behold, my least favorite store one place had them in stock ... Wal-Mart.

I, of course, wanted cute matching bags, but the boys had other ideas. This is what we ended up with.

I don't remember the exact price, but I know they were both under $20 each. A mite high, but SO worth it!!!

The boys now have fun reading chairs, and the bags get stashed behind D-bug's bed at the end of the day. Win-win!

We did run into one slight problem. Bean bag covers are made with zippers that, once closed, won't reopen (to keep the little "beans" from getting everywhere). So Hubby had to do a bit of "MacGyvering" (that should totally be a word) to make the zippers open and close. He slid a bit of wire through the hole where the zipper handle usually goes, twisted them up and voilĂ ! Instant zipper handles!

How to you manage the chaos that comes with kids? I'd love to hear your ideas!
