Welp, It finally happened...

We knew it would. Only a matter of time.

And, being who I am, I figured it would be me.

I fell down the stairs.

My sock-covered foot slipped off the edge of the tread and WOOSH! Down she goes!

Thank the LORD that I was on the 3rd step from the bottom when it happened, and not the 3rd step from the top.

I was coming downstairs from my office after work, following my "daily commute" to the kitchen to cook dinner. Had a closed water bottle in one hand and a glass mason jar half full of sweet tea (as you do) in the other ... thinking about "what to cook for dinner but first I need to get the mail oh I'll get Beebee to get it for me so I can start..." and WHOA NELLIE! My right foot slipped and my left foot dragged under me all the way to the floor.

All I could think was "Lord, please don't let me break the glass!!"

Yes - I had my priorities in order. After all, it's an aqua blue mason jar, people.

At some point the water bottle went flying as I grabbed for the rail, but I held on tight to that jar. Once my hindquarters hit the floor (hard!), I gently set that jar down and began WAILING.

Because it HURT.

Like, STUPID HURT.

I was sure I'd broken my entire foot. The Hubs and Beebee came running to see what had happened. (My sweet Beebee -- he was worried sick!) I tried to suck it up, but nothing doing -- my whole foot was QUIET VEXED with me.

Yes, I'm a wuss. No shame here.

The Hubs helped me to the couch, and tended to me with ice and Advil (while giving me a look that said, "Really, woman?") and Beebee sat next to me loving on and watching over me. (D-bug was in his room and didn't hear a thing over his radio. Later he said he heard me screaming but thought I'd seen a bug. Tweenagers.) (And yes, I have been known to occasionally scream like a crazy woman when I see a bug. Don't judge. You know you do it, too.)

Long story short, all seems OK, except for my big toe. I'm pretty sure it's sprained. Not broken (as I've done to multiple toes in the past. Klutz Life.) but injured enough to remain angry ALL THE TIME.

So, now I have a buddy splint and a bruise that may be the inspiration for Pantone's 2017 Color of the Year. (Maybe "Grape Klutz?" "Lavender Falls?" "Hip Hematoma?")

Side note - I did pick a good day to fall down the stairs. It was Thursday, and the Hubs had Friday off, so he cooked breakfast for me Friday morning, and then hung up these beauties:

Isn't he THE BEST? And are those not the CUTEST?!?!

OK -- this post is entirely too long already. So stay tuned ... I'll give all of the deets about these sweet lights next time.

Have a great week, peeps!
